Mike Tyson Back In Bit Ness

As some may realize, this is the second big comeback fight in Tyson’s 14-year professional career. The first time he returned from a significant lay-off was following his prison sentence for a rape conviction. In that return bout in August 1995, Tyson pounded a white pug into the rug in less than a round. His fight against the overmatched Peter McNeeley was shorter than the national anthem. This time he returns from the 16-month suspension stemming from his June 1997 disqualification loss to heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield....

Olympic Traditions

If you think the Olympics have changed over the years, take a look at these ancient sport facts. The Ancient Olympics Were Commercial Many modern critics contend the Olympics are too commercial. Apparently little has changed. Cheating and bribery were so common at the ancient games that statutes warning against dishonesty were set up along the road to the stadium. Successful athletes were celebrities. Medals and poems were commissioned to celebrate winners....

Perspective

There are different ways of showing perspective. Look at the painting Cape Cod Evening by Edward Hopper. Notice how the straight lines on the house seem to move on a diagonal away from you, toward a background point. This is called linear perspective. Another way of showing perspective is atmospheric perspective. Notice how the dark green area on the left seems farther away than the lighter green trees. That’s because light colors “jump out” while darker colors seem to fade away, as if they were farther back in the atmosphere....

Rudolph William Giuliani

A lawyer, businessman, and politician born and bred in New York, Giuliani has not conformed to a tightly scripted campaign. Instead, he has delivered a different speech at almost every stop, adapting his address to appeal to both the audience and his mood. His constant theme, however, has been national security, and he often recounts his poised handling of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center....

Those inhabitants foolish enough to have remained in town at the time of the eruption were buried in this pyroclastic flow until the remains of Pompeii were discovered, almost perfectly preserved, in 1748. The cinders and ashes that buried the town also kept it surprisingly intact, down to the fresh colors in wall paintings.
